The Fourth James Martin Walk took place on Thursday, 13 August 2026, bringing together more than 110 students from four schools for a special journey from Martin Place to Parramatta Square.
The walkers were warmly welcomed at the start of the event by a number of prominent NSW leaders and community representatives. The Chief Justice of NSW, Andrew Bell, the Secretary of the NSW Department of Education, Murat Dizdar, and Jihad Dib, NSW Minister for Youth Justice, addressed the students before they set off. Jess Miller, Deputy Lord Mayor of the City of Sydney, also spoke to the participants.
The event was further supported by senior political representatives, including Shadow Minister Mark Speakman and NSW Treasurer Daniel Mookhey, who attended the start of the Walk representing the Premier.
To help distinguish the participating schools, walkers from each school were given hats in different colours, creating a vibrant display as the students made their way along the route.
The students' achievements will be recognised at special school assemblies to be arranged in their honour, where they will be presented with their James Martin Walk medals. The assemblies will provide an opportunity for each school community to celebrate the students' participation and commemorate their contribution to the 2026 Walk.
